Dr. Karen Fox Joins Southern Tennessee Regional Health System

Southern Tennessee Regional Health System Winchester (STRHS Winchester) officials announced today that Karen Fox, M.D., has joined its staff and will be offering psychiatric services to patients throughout Franklin County and the surrounding area. Dr. Fox brings more than 20 years of experience to STRHS Winchester and is one of a number of specialists to join the hospital’s medical team this year.   

“Dr. Fox has years of experience in treating a range of complex psychiatric conditions, and she is an excellent addition to our hospital team,” said Rob Followell, CEO of STRHS Winchester.  “She evaluates and treats patients thirteen years and older which will provide families in our area a very specialized, unique type of care close to home.”   

Dr. Fox joins STRHS Winchester from Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute, where she was a staff psychiatrist.  Before Moccasin Bend, she was in a solo practice at The Upstate’s Golden Corner of Psychiatry in Seneca, South Carolina for a number of years.

 Dr. Fox graduated from York College in Queens, New York and obtained her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada and St. Vincent, West Indies. She completed the various levels of psychiatric residency requirements at Monmouth Medical Center, in Long Branch New Jersey, at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, New York, and St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Staten Island, New York.

Dr. Fox will be sharing an office with her husband, otolaryngologist (ENT), Dr. Frank Rao, who will be moving his practice to 2230 Cowan Highway in Winchester.
