Southern Tennessee Regional Health System- Winchester
Offers New CT Capabilities

Winchester, TN…Southern Tennessee Regional Health System Winchester (STRHS Winchester) has further solidified its commitment to higher diagnostic quality images at a lesser dose to the patient with the addition of the new 128 Slice CT Scanner, the Optima* CT660, which is the first in southern middle Tennessee.

The new 128 Slice CT is equipped with the exclusive ASIR*(Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction) low dose reconstruction technology that can help physicians significantly reduce the dose while maintaining the high image quality and low contrast detectability they need for accurate diagnosis.

“The new Optima 660 CT scanner with Medrad  Stellant injector system brings the latest technology in scan speed, image quality, radiation reduction, and contrast reduction to STRHS Winchester, “ says Phil Young,  STRHS Winchester CEO.  “This new 128 Slice CT scanner reduces scan time while reducing radiation exposure to the patient by sixty percent compared to prior technology.  With the new injection system, which is also in place on the new CT scanner at Sewanee, contrast is now dosed specifically to each unique patient, reducing contrast volume by fifty percent.”

The new imaging system allows for fast, high-quality acquisition at optimized dose for patient young and old, large and small and can be used across a wide spectrum of procedure including cardiac, angiography, brain, chest, abdomen, orthopedic, and more.

“With this technology, physicians benefit from faster , clearer image assessment and patients benefit from the same faster turn around time, but receive only a fraction of radiation and much less contrast which better protects their kidneys,” said Young.  “We are pleased to be able to add new CT scanning technologies to both our campuses this year, including this cutting edge system in Winchester.

The Medical Imaging department at STRHS Winchester is accredited by Joint Commission and the American College of Radiology,  has a Board Certified CT staff, and a Fellowship trained radiologist.  For additional information call 931-967-8374.
