STRHS-Winchester Announces Expansion of Sleep Medicine Services

Southern Tennessee Regional Health System - Winchester (STRHS) is pleased to announce the expansion of its sleep medicine services. Its new practice, Southern Tennessee Sleep Medicine, is fully equipped to diagnose and treat sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy, chronic insomnia, restless leg syndrome, and sleep walking. Southern Tennessee Sleep Medicine is located in the same suite as Southern Tennessee Pulmonary and Critical Care on the campus of STRHS-Winchester at 155 Hospital Rd, Ste. C.

The STRHS-Winchester sleep medicine team consists of nurse practitioner Sherrie Smith, FNP-C, Sleep Center and Cardiopulmonary Director Roy Shedd, RPSGT, CRT, and Dr. Mohammad Alsoub. Dr. Alsoub recently joined STRHS’s medical staff as the medical director of the Sleep Center at STRHS-Winchester. Dr. Alsoub brings more than 34 years of clinical experience to the team. Dr. Alsoub graduated from Jordan University in Amman, Jordan. Dr. Alsoub is a member of the American Board of Sleep Medicine, American Board of Critical Care, American Board of Pulmonary Medicine, and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Sherrie Smith joins the sleep team after providing primary care services at Southern Tennessee Primary Care and First Choice Health since 2018. In addition to her specialized training in family medicine and critical and pulmonary care, Sherrie specializes in the management of various lung diseases such as COPD, emphysema, IPF, sarcoidosis, asthma and chronic bronchitis as well as various sleep disorders such as RLS, OSA, OHS, narcolepsy, insomnia, and circadian rhythm disorders. Sherrie began her healthcare career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and then received her Associates Degree in Science in Nursing at Motlow State Community College. She obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree and Masters of Science in Nursing from Middle Tennessee State University.
To be scheduled for an evaluation at Southern Tennessee Sleep Medicine, please speak to your primary care provider. Patients who require a sleep study may be scheduled for an evaluation at the Sleep Center at STRHS-Winchester at 155 Hospital Rd., Ste. 200.
