Southern Tennessee Regional Health System Announces New System President

Winchester, Tenn. (January 4, 2016) – LifePoint Health today announced that Rob Followell has been named market president of Southern Tennessee Regional Health System (STRHS), effective January 29. In this role, Followell will serve the dual role of chief executive officer (CEO) for STRHS’ Winchester and Sewanee facilities and market president of the four-hospital health system, which also includes facilities in Lawrenceburg and Pulaski.
STRHS is part of LifePoint Health, a healthcare company dedicated to Making Communities Healthier®. Followell will replace Jerry Dooley, who has led STRHS on an interim basis since July 2015.

He has worked in many diverse health systems and operational situations. He is a perfect fit to lead STRHS and its four hospitals into the future.”
Followell is a seasoned healthcare executive with more than 20 years of broad experience. Most recently, he served as CEO of North Knoxville Medical Center, a 108-bed hospital in Knoxville, Tenn. Previously, he held the CEO post at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, a 122-bed hospital in Ronceverte, W. Va.; Chilton Medical Center, a 60-bed hospital in Clanton, Ala.; and Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega, Ga. Followell has extensive experience serving in leadership positions for companies and health systems, including Community Health Systems, SunLink Health Systems, Inc., Quorum Health Resources and Hospital Corporation of America.
Followell holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration and a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Kentucky. His background and professional experience in both areas have shaped his leadership style and abilities.
